Meet Our Members: Ted Sammons

By websites@tappnetwork.com

Ted Sammons currently works as a Job Coach for First State Employment where he has been helping clients with records and disabilities find employment since 2015. Ted and his five member team currently have 30 people, which allows them to keep the doors open with the employers like Walmart, Home Depot and ABM Janitorial. With rising levels of substance abuse, Ted’s job is to get people back to work and to help them build the kind of relationships that companies and employees can benefit from.

Before working for First State Employment, Ted graduated with a degree in culinary arts and pursued a successful twenty year career in the restaurant industry. After working in the grueling and sometimes unforgiving conditions of that industry for two decades, Ted opted to leave that chapter of his life behind and search for something more. In the years that followed, Ted tried his hand at real estate and started to get involved in the activities of his church. Working with his church, Ted was able to to give back to the community. He specifically worked with community members who had been incarcerated. Following this, Ted went on to achieve a graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2016.

First State Employment is a small business in Delaware created by Clinton Ganoff in 2010. Despite its small size, it is doing big things here in Delaware. First State does not work with the upper echelon of businesses, it works with small retailers and entry level positions to create big change for sometimes struggling members in our society.

For Ted, who often works from home, Mill provides him the excellent opportunity to do paperwork, create connections, and conduct client contact meetings. He states, “The Mill Space gives me the space, comfort and professional atmosphere to conduct my business and at the same time, network with likeminded professionals.”
