Meet Our Members: Hattie Duplechain

By account_managers

Hattie Duplechain, a native of Dover, Delaware, works as Research and Evaluation Specialist at Ashoka U. It’s a university-focused initiative of Ashoka, a nonprofit that works to seed, support, and grow social entrepreneurship and social innovation around the world. With Ashoka U, Hattie and her team partners with colleges and universities to cultivate and embed social innovation in their students’ educational experience.

Education has always been Hattie’s passion, having spent four years as a teacher after she graduated from college. She taught across various countries around the world, including Nepal and Ghana, as well as the United States, particularly in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

However, her frustration with the challenges across education systems led her to pursue further studies to better understand the policy and operations that support these systems. “I found my way to Ashoka U as a graduate student and continued with the organization after I completed my degree. What I’ve most enjoyed about this work is the opportunity to help prepare students for entrepreneurial and civic engagement,” she shares.

She recently moved to Wilmington and transitioned to remote work. Hattie says that she loves the mix of working in an office environment while being a part of The Mill’s community. “It makes a huge difference for productivity and creativity,” she says.
